Taking care of our community is fundamental to building a strong, supportive, and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. This care extends especially to our older adult neighbors, who contributed so much throughout their lives and now deserve our support and respect in return. For our older adult friends and neighbors, we try to go above and beyond, offering special services throughout the year to put smiles on their faces––and our own!
To Brighten An Older Friend’s Day
We offer a variety of services throughout the year for our older neighbors:
Friendly Phone Calls: Our volunteers offer friendly phone calls for those seeking a little more connection and conversation, typically calling and checking in with clients once or twice a month. If you would like to receive friendly phone calls, fill out our contact form or call our office at 708-354-9328.
Special Flower Delivery: Our talented Petal Pushers volunteer team takes “rescued” flowers donated by grocery stores and turns them into bright and cheerful bouquets we deliver as a sweet surprise to our VIPs.
Special Treat Deliveries: Project Warmth (soup) and Project Love (Valentine’s chocolate) are initiatives designed to connect with our older friends throughout the year.
Library Home Delivery:
In collaboration with local libraries, Community Assisted Rides offers a home delivery service for older adults aged 60 and better, ensuring they have access to library materials even if they can’t visit the library themselves. Learn More.

When we invest in the well-being of older adults, we foster intergenerational connections and create a compassionate community where all members feel valued and included. Making a gift in their honor and/or memory is a beautiful way to celebrate the people you treasure while caring for others for many years to come. If you donate in honor of one of our current clients or volunteers, we will happily mail them a notecard letting them know a donation was made in their honor!
